Urishanie Govender is Harmony Gold’s chief sustainability officer

She has over two decades experience in environmental science, sustainability, and corporate leadership across various industries, including mining, engineering and construction, and the public sector.

She was previously the director for EHS & ESG at Vedanta Resources and, prior to that, held the role of group head of safety and sustainability at De Beers Group.

Urishanie holds a doctorate in business leadership as well as master’s in business leadership (cum laude) from the University of South Africa, along with a master’s in chemistry from the Durban University of Technology.

Her qualifications are complemented by certifications, including her status as a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) certified sustainability practitioner.
