Ursula Mpakanyane, the head of ESG at Redefine, has been appointed to the property group’s executive committee.
She joined Redefine at the head of audit in late 2017, and has since held various leadership roles within the organisation. Ursula holds an BCom in internal audit and an MBA from GIBS
As head of ESG, Ursula’s focus is on managing climate risks, and supporting social and economic growth.
In mid-2024, the REIT received net zero carbon level 2: building & occupant emissions (measured) certification for two buildings within its commercial property portfolio, from the Green Building Council of South Africa. A net zero carbon building is defined as one that operates with zero net carbon emissions for over a year.
Consequently, Redefine has five net zero buildings in its portfolio.
