Remgro social and ethics and sustainability committee members announced

In his 2023 CEO report, Jannie Durand noted, “In line with our commitment towards social and environmental sustainability, we are pleased to report on the appointment of a full-time sustainability and ESG expert, Tanis Brown, to drive our ESG strategy across the Remgro Group, and partnering with the investee companies within our portfolio in driving this effort."

The Remgro board approved the merger of the Remgro strategic ESG committee and the Remgro social and ethics committee with effect from 1 July 2024 to form the Remgro social and ethics and sustainability committee.

The members of this committee comprise Mafison Morobe (chairperson), Sonja de Bruyn, Mariza Lubbe, Nkateko Peter Mageza, Kgotlelelo Sere Rantloane and Pieter Johannes Uys.

Remgro’s strategic ESG committee was established as a board sub-committee in 2021 to provide oversight and guidance on all matters related to ESG. It is supported by the operational ESG committee.

Around the same period, the company introduced ESG frameworks for risk management and investment and last year facilitated collaboration between investee companies in human resources, CSI and ESG.

In 2022, a baseline ESG footprint report was developed and in 2023 a dedicated senior ESG and sustainability manager was appointed.
